Issue 18: Rant by Wolfgang
Outline:
- Character Update
- Wolfgang - Over the weekend, we had a massive amount of snow. As a result, I didn't get to play much because I was shoveling snow onto Dozens' driveway. However, I did finish my retcon and main tanked Telios Tower; I super-stated Con/Dex. I think that I picked most of my powers from MA, Archery, and Might. I added Crippling Challenge to two attacks, and then was in Protector stance during the instance. It was very easy to hold aggro and I had a guy who had some healing powers help keep me alive.
- News
- Champions Online Demo - Tell all of your friends. http://www.champions-online.com/node/594806 -- Lets you play to Level 15, but limits your zone access. This is great news. As I mentioned in previous Podcasts: Cryptic needed to do this now instead of waiting for the game to get old and forgotten; do it while people are still curious. Every MMO should do this except maybe WoW. Warhammer, Conan and -- now -- Champions Online are doing this. Unlike the other two games, Cryptic acted quickly instead of waiting. This is only a good thing as it will hopefully keep an influx of players and, combined with the referral program, make it easy to get people to at least try it out. It's free--there is nothing to lose.
- Champions won the Members Choice award at TenTonHammer. It was an award voted on by members of TenTonHammer -- great win for Cryptic.
- Winter Event
- So far, so good. I haven't had a chance to beat up the big teddy bear, but I have gotten gifts and my share of evil toys. Fun Stuff.
- EDIT: Until Dec 25th, send any Matching Pen and Pencil Sets from the Misfit Toys to CO player @Mighty_Pencil and for every 1000 he recieves he will donate a Build-a-Bear to needy children. Cryptic_Daeke spotlighted this on the official page, but I feel it's good to mention it while there is still time.

I forgot to tell Wolfgang to mention the community charity event being organized by dedicated CO fan @Mighty_Pencil so I added in the links to the official site. Nice gesture for the holidays and at last count he had recieved over 5k sets (or 5 bears if you will).
It’s pretty cool of Cryptic Daeke to give a lot of attention to these community organized fun events (the “Where in the World is Carmel Santiago” event mentioned in Issue 12).
Sorry I was not able to join in tonight but I stil enjoyed it and will be here next week. I was able to get in some decent playing time, going up a full level, and getting some holiday perks done (all the action figures).

Also, you can turn in your Pen&Pencil Sets, Snow Globes, Etc to the elves by santa in MC for either a Green, Blue or Purple item….
Just an FYI

Thanks for another podcast, even though a short one.
I am going give the free trial a shot and see if the game has improved any since beta, although the tutorial as pretty good back even then, it is the crisis zone that got boring really quick from what i remember.
Happy holidays!
